The alarm system
The alarm system is patterned after home systems like ADT. It will set off the siren(s) when it is turned on and a door, window or motion sensor is triggered. It has a Stay mode which just uses the door and window sensors, an Away mode which uses door, window and motion sensors, and a Panic! button to set off the alarm immediately. It also has the added benefit of sending email alerts, when the alarm is on, for both outside devices and inside devices which will tell you which sensor was triggered and its state at the time it was triggered.
N.B. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you use a siren that can be set to a ‘lights only’ mode (no siren) during setup and testing. This will prevents the siren going off all the time – and possibly upsetting the neighbors!
Please be aware that this is a software based alarm system that may not be appropriate for all uses. The S.A.R.A.H. team does not offer any warranty for its products and takes no responsibility for any consequences for its use.
Changing the alarm codes-
To change the alarm codes, go to the alarm system page (from inside your home network), and type in these commands:
- Set new alarm code – [curr alarm code] # [new alarm code] ## 8 #
- Set new guest code – [curr alarm code] # [new guest code] ** 8 #
- Delete guest code – [curr alarm code] *# 8 #
N.B. The alarm code is initially set to ‘0000’. Please change this to your own code right away. The new code must be between 4 – 8 digits. After you type in a code you will see a message on the keypad saying either ‘Saved’ or ‘Deleted’. If you do not see the message, something went wrong and you will need to press the ‘[OFF]’ button and try again.
Turning the alarm on and off-
To access the keypad, go to the alarm system page (from inside your home network), and enter the alarm code or guest code and press:
- [OFF] – Turns off the alarm system and silences the siren(s)
- [STAY] – Turns on the alarm system and arms only the door and window sensors
- [AWAY] – Turns on the alarm system and arms the door, window and motion sensors
- [Panic !] – Press 3x in a row – Sets off the siren(s) immediately

The tamper alarm
The tamper alarm is used to sound the alarm if someone tampers with any device that has a tamper alarm built-in – even if the alarm is off, the tamper alarm will sound if it is triggered. It is always on. You can only turn it off temporarily to change a device’s batteries. If you turn it off, it will come back on in 20 minutes by default. If you need it to be off for a longer period, simply shutdown S.A.R.A.H. by going to the S.A.R.A.H. Command Center, clicking the ‘Shutdown’ button and following the instructions.
To access the tamper alarm, go to the alarm system page (from inside your home network), press the ‘TAMPER ALARM ENABLED’ button to temporarily disable it. If you don’t want to wait 20 minutes for it to come back on, simply press the button again to re-activate it.
